An easy hour drive from Augusta lies the unforgettable drive-through experience that is Eudora Farms. Hundreds of exotic animals live at the family-friendly park, which has a three-mile loop, giraffe exhibit and picnic area.
Be prepared to welcome the animals, because as soon as you open your windows, they’ll stick their big, beautiful heads through, vying for the oversized pellets from your feed bucket. You can’t help but laugh as they move with your car or stay firmly planted so you can’t move at all. Did we already say: Don’t forget your camera!!
Here are some tips to enhance your visit:
• Buy at least two feed buckets at the entrance. Many animals have no qualms about reaching into your car to get additional food;
• Keep a tight hold on your feed buckets;
• Bring a roll of paper towels with you. There will be slobber;
• Don’t wear your Sunday best! Jeans and a T-shirt, or anything you don’t mind getting dirty, will do;
• Arrive as early as possible. The animals will swarm your vehicle, and the later the day gets, the longer the line gets;
• Check the weather before you leave. If it rains, a sweater or rain slicker might be in order since you’ll have your windows open;
• Print out directions before you go. Cell phone coverage is spotty, and you’ll want to have a back-up to GPS;
• One more time: Don’t forget your camera!
Eudora Farms is open Wednesday-Sunday 10 am-5:30 pm, rain or shine, and is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. $30 per vehicle or wagon rides for $15 per person (children 4 and under are free). Feed buckets are $5 each; no outside animal food is allowed.
