A Wedding at Marion Hatcher Center

“Since many of our guests flew in from other countries, we chose to make it an all-weekend event. It was so special for our guests to experience Augusta,” Janee said. “My bridesmaid’s brunch was at Augusta Candle Company and the rehearsal dinner was at Abel Brown — it felt great to be finally together with our family and friends and to show off our city to them.”

• The bride’s aunts wore Hawaiian printed dresses for the event and had flowers flown in from Hawaii to make individual leis by hand for the bridal party.

• The bride and groom opted for a special twist to the traditional wedding lei exchange by presenting ceremonial leis (Maile, Ti Leaf, Maile and Tuberose, and Plumeria orchid) to one another as well as to their bridal party during the ceremony.

• The groom gave custom-made decanters in namesake wooden boxes to his groomsmen.

• Janee and McFerrin are both members of historically Black Greek Letter Organizations. Janee and several of her Delta Sigma Theta sisters did their sorority “stroll” at the reception.
