Publisher Notes: August/September 2021

I can remember the first time my mother took me to see Cats at the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta. It was a experience I will never forget. Dressed to the nines, we had dinner at a restaurant nearby and then walked a few blocks to the Fox. As we were ushered to our seats, I remember thinking the theater was so majestic and glamorous. The ornate interior complete with a ceiling painted in various shades of blue with thousands of stars to mimick the night sky. It was a magical setting to watch a truly spectacular musical.

Last year dealt a crushing blow to the arts communities across the nation, and Augusta was no exception. I am thankful that we are beginning to see a resurgence in our own arts community. Live performances, art exhibits, ballets and theater productions will once again fill our arts calendar. If you are a lover of the arts be sure to check out our annual arts calendar, beginning on page 33, and who knows … I just might see you at a show.
