Whitney and Josh Boykin looked for the perfect land to build their “forever” home on for years.
“We honestly looked for many years,” Whitney said. “And then a friend called and said there was some property we should look at and that was it.”
The Boykins worked with Rob Lacher of Lacher Construction on designing and building their new home, located in North Augusta just across the Edgefield County line. Every detail of the 3,300 square-foot home was skillfully designed to fit the Boykins’ lifestyle.
The family of four has ample space to live, work and entertain. Whitney, a photographer, needed to make sure she had a space to work within her home. The nook, located just off the kitchen, is customized to fit her needs.
When it came time for the details, like fixtures, furniture and general decor, Whitney worked with Katlyn Jones, an interior designer with Hardwood Floors & More in Evans, to achieve the comfortable yet chic style she wanted.
“I can’t say enough about Katlyn. She was truly a joy to work with,” Whitney said. Built-in bookcases flank the sides of the fireplace, providing the ideal spot to showcase the Boykin’s family portraits and books. In modern farmhouse style, the home is light and airy with accents like subway tile, an apron sink and a custom built range hood. The back porch area, complete with an outdoor kitchen, leads out to a beautiful pool and large backyard, which serves as the kids’ main living space on most days.
“This house really is everything I dreamed it would be,” Whitney explained. “It’s the perfect home for our family.”
