Publisher Notes: August – September 2016

ashley2016-e7c840e8FALL USHERS THE ARTS SEASON IN to AUGUSTA! Yes, technically August is not fall here in the Deep South—or anywhere else for that matter! But here atAugusta Magazine, the August/September issue focuses on the growing arts community in our fair city.

This issue features the 2016 Greater Augusta Arts Council’s Arts Awards and our annual 2016/2017 Arts Calendar, a guide to the area’s performances, exhibits, festivals, lectures, concerts, films and more. My hope is that when you’re  looking for something to do on the weekend, you’ll find this resource valuable.

Also, you’ll find our sixth annual Best of At Home, voted by you—our readers. The winners represent the best in their respective categories. If you find yourself in need of a particular service or product concerning your home, please use this guide as a reference when selecting a company.

We also bid a fond farewell to our editor Sherry Foster who has been the foundation of Augusta Magazine for more than 20 years. Sherry, along with her talented team of writers and designers, brought the best of our city to life within the pages of our magazine.

I want to thank her for the significant contributions she’s made to the magazine throughout the years. I only had the pleasure of working closely with her for a year, but I have learned quite a bit and wish her well on her future endeavors.

October will bring some exciting changes to Augusta Magazine. Until then take a moment to catch a show, attend a festival or visit a museum and just maybe, I’ll see you there!

-Ashlee
