Jazz the Jewel of the World

June 8 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

$10 – $20

This is a play about how jazz traveled right through Augusta, Georgia, to the Lennox Theatre in the 1920s-1960s and the Palmetto Parks and Pond in North Augusta in the 1930s-1940s. We will meet the greats such as Ethel Waters and Louie Armstrong. This theatrical production will feature original music by Pictures of Life Productions playwright Zirzeria and traditional jazz music favorites and actors representing those artists. This historical play is part film and theatrical performance that will have you laughing and singing along while learning about the history of jazz and how it has influenced all of our lives. Our local actors from Augusta, CSRA, and Atlanta will be a part of this marvelous production. Don’t miss out! We would love to meet you after the show. This will also kick off the Juneteenth celebration, as this play also tells how the African American influence of spirituals, ragtime, and jazz made an important impact on the musical journey. Tickets can be purchased at the door or through Eventbrite,
