Think you know the course, the traditions, the statistics and the players who comprise the prestigious Masters Tournament? Here are our Masters quiz answers to see if you have gone up or down in the ranks.

  1. B – Amen Corner is the name given to the three-hole stretch of 11, 12 and 13 at the Augusta National Golf Club. In the late 1950’s s, Herbert Warren Wind, sportswriter for Sports Illustrated coined the term when Palmer played the three holes with amazing skill, forever coining the name of some of the three most famous holes in golf. His description is as follows: “Amen Corner (is) where Rae’s Creek intersects the 13th fairway near the tee, then parallels the front edge of the green on the short 12th and finally swirls alongside the 11th green.” The phrase came from a popular song in that day but was adapted to reference the golf holes and how quickly they can become a game changer.
  1. C – Pimento Cheese is the sandwich that, according to conventional wisdom, is ordered the most. It is rumored that the club may have changed the recipe a few years ago, but it hasn’t stopped the green plastic bags of pimento cheese sandwiches from flying off the shelves.
  1. The “Masters Green” single breasted, single vent jacket has the Augusta National Golf Clublogo on the left chest pocket and on the brass buttons.
  1. B – fast-growing pines are some of the most common tree species throughout the course.
  1. C – Since 1951, the runner-up receives a 1.7-ounce silver medallion showing the Clubhouse from the Founders Circle off Magnolia Lane.
  1. D – pine benches were introduced in 1938 for patrons of the event.
  1. B – with more than 30 varieties of azaleas on the Masters golf course, it’s no wonder the signature drink has the same name as the famed course’s prolific flowers.
  1. B – Nicklaus – Holding the record for the most wins is Jack Nicklaus with an impressive 6 wins and 6 coveted green jackets.  Next in line, is Tiger Woods with five wins and Arnold Palmer coming in third with four wins.
  1. C – 4 pm – The beer sales cut off is 4 pm. Rowdy patrons and boisterous crowds aren’t the scene at the Masters.
  1. A – Sam Snead, or “The Slammer”, “Slammin’ Sammy Snead”, and “The Long Ball Hitter from West Virginia” was thought to have had the “perfect swing.”
  1. D – Golfers in the playoff play the 18th hole first, then, if necessary, the 10th hole. The sudden death playoff format has been used at the Masters since 1976.
  1. B – Larry Mize’s chip shot on the 11th hole might go down as one of the most memorable shots in the tournament history. Mize, who was born in Augusta, is said to have worked the scoreboard at the Masters as a teenager. How’s that for coming full circle?
  1. B – Masters casual is open for interpretation, but commonly worn clothing like sundresses, golf shirts and tennis shoes are perfect for the tournament. Fashion faux pas – wearing jeans to the course! In all reality, the mornings are usually cool and the afternoons are nice, so layering is the best fashion advice. The course is hilly, and you’ll be walking a lot too so comfort is a must!!
  1. U.S. patent number Reg. No. 6,000,045 signifies the “mark” as consisting of the color green as applied to the jacket and gold as applied to the buttons.
  1. False! The 2021 Masters accepted no forms of cash due to Covid concerns.
  1. C – also known as the Squire in golf, Gene Sarazen’s golf fashion included a style of knickers called plus-fours. The 15th hole is also known as firethorn.
  1. B – The original name of the tournament, Augusta National Invitational, was officially changed to the Masters in 1939.
  1. During World War II, the tournament was suspended between 1943-45 and the land was used to raise cows and turkeys for the war effort.
